Introducing Email Scrubber 7.14
New Attachment Action Option: Move to Case and Archive
When reassigning a File (or converting an Attachment into a File) during archiving, you now have the option to link the item to both the Case and the Archive in a single action.
How it works: selecting this option creates one Content Document, which is then linked via two separate Content Document Links, one to the Case and one to the Archive. The underlying file is not duplicated; only the links are.
Behavior by Source, Action, and Migration Setting
The table below summarizes the expected result for every combination of source type, archiving action, and the “Migrate Attachments to Files” setting.
Source | Action | Migrate Attachments to Files? | Expected Result |
Attachment | Move to Case | No | Attachment linked to Case |
Attachment | Move to Archive | No | Attachment linked to Archive |
Attachment | Move to Case and Archive | No | Attachment linked to Case only * |
Attachment | Move to Case | Yes | Attachment converted to File, linked to Case |
Attachment | Move to Archive | Yes | Attachment converted to File, linked to Archive |
Attachment | Move to Case and Archive | Yes | Attachment converted to File, linked to Case and Archive |
File | Move to Case | No | File linked to Case |
File | Move to Archive | No | File linked to Archive |
File | Move to Case and Archive | No | File linked to Case and Archive |
File | Move to Case | Yes | File linked to Case |
File | Move to Archive | Yes | File linked to Archive |
File | Move to Case and Archive | Yes | File linked to Case and Archive |
* A classic Salesforce Attachment can only be parented to a single record. If “Move to Case and Archive” is selected without also enabling “Migrate Attachments to Files,” the item remains a standard Attachment and can only be linked to one parent. It is linked to the Case, and the Archive link is not created. Enable the migration setting to get the dual Case-and-Archive link.
